Customers were placed on waiting lists by Harley-Davidson dealers and could wait several years for their new motorcycle. Sales of new motorcycles were 132,285; 118,771; 105,104; 95,140; 81,696; 76,495; and 68,626 in 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992, and 1991 respectively.
