CASE 13 CARNIVAL CORPORATION (1998) I. CASE ABSTRACT Carnival Cruise Lines, Inc., was founded by Ted Arison in 1972. From its inauspicious beginning, Carnival became known for fun-filled Caribbean cruises. Ted retired in 1990 as Chairman. His son, Micky Arison, CEO, then became Chairman. Carnival is considered a 'Controlled Foreign Corporation' (CFC), which exempts shipping operations of a corporation from income tax.
